Our first cooking club

Friday afternoons mean cooking club in kindergarten. We leaen how to keep things clean, stir, measure, follow a recipe, and blend ingredients that we may not like into something that we do like. For our first cooking club we made strawberry shortcakes...YUM!

The second week of school we learned about one of my favorite people, Jane Goodall. We learned about her work studying chimpanzees in Africa as well as her work now to encourage people to help nature and keep animals safe. We are now collecting coins (don't forget to send them in!) to adopt a chimpanzee through Jane Goodall's roots and shoots program. We also listened to the song banana phone...a lot...since chimpanzees eat bananas! A middle school teacher, Mr. Stevens, came down and played banana phone for us on his guitar which was a fun treat!

Friday Free Choice

On Fridays, we often do something called Friday Free Choice. I put out different activities such as stamps, dominoes, blocks, markers and white boards, or our favorite...dress up. The kids get to chose which activity they would like to do. Friday free choice is a fun way for the kids to get to know each other as well as a great motivator for getting your work done during the first part of the week!
